Since November 2019, members of the Toronto Police Service’s Human Trafficking Team have conducted an investigation into the sexual exploitation of a 16-year-old girl in the Pape Avenue and Cosburn Avenue area.
Between March and May 2020, investigators launched Project "One Six" in an effort to identify, locate and arrest those who had purchased sexual services from the girl.
One of the men was identified as a Toronto Police Service officer.
On March 13, 2020, Constable Peter Roberts, 49, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:
1. Obtaining sexual services for consideration from persons under 18 years of age
Constable Roberts has 11 years’ of service and was assigned to 51 Division. He is currently Suspended With Pay.
He is next scheduled to appear in court, on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at 2201 Finch Avenue West, in room 202.
Nine other men were also identified and arrested.

Feiya Liu, 29, of Toronto, has been charged with:

Angel Pina Sanchez, 36, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1. Obtaining sexual services for consideration from persons under 18 years of age
Dragomir Popovic, 41, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1. Obtaining sexual services for consideration from persons under 18 years of age
Austin Morden, 27, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1. Obtaining sexual services for consideration from persons under 18 years of age
Michael Yimer, 29, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1. Obtaining sexual services for consideration from persons under 18 years of age

Police would also urge anyone who has been a victim of Human Trafficking to come forward to police. We want to make sure that everyone has access to support services and an exit strategy, regardless of their decision to proceed criminally.
Human Trafficking means every person who recruits, transports, transfers, receives, holds, conceals or harbours a person, or exercises control, direction or influence over the movements of a person, for the purpose of exploiting them or facilitating their exploitation, for a sexual purpose or a forced labour purpose. Victims can be men, women or children; can be Canadian citizens; and can be moved across local, provincial or national borders. They can be coerced through violence or the threat of violence against family and friends.
